Responsibilities

Triage and assess oncology patients
Administer treatments and transfusions in an oncology infusion center setting
Provide nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and delivering physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends
Review physician prescriptions, communicate nursing care plans, and coordinate with healthcare team members and physicians
Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting conditions, conferring with family/friends, and establishing goals/schedules
Teach healthcare requirements by instructing patients, families, and friends on conditions, medications, self-care skills, and providing resources
Evaluate patient care by adhering to standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, and modifying care plans
Maintain safe patient care environment by following infection-control policies, medication procedures, controlled substance regulations, and organizational/legal standards
Document patient care services in records
Maintain and troubleshoot patient care equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and manage repairs
Manage patient care supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering, verifying receipt, and stocking items
