Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Board of Nursing - active license in the state of practice upon hire
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs patient care considering staff competency and skill levels, assisting with critical or complex patients or unmanageable activity levels
  • Serves as a resource for staff on policy, procedure, ethical or legal questions, and hospital services
  • Monitors staffing levels, coordinates and implements staffing plans to meet patient volume, identifies and manages personnel/patient issues in absence of clinical leaders
  • Coordinates utilization of resources including staff, ancillary staff, equipment, and facilitates patient placement/throughput
  • Investigates problems and complaints from patients, families, physicians, and staff, takes appropriate action, handles customer relations, resolves patient complaints, communicates risk management concerns, and initiates follow-up
  • Actively uses the nursing process in goal-focused patient care, demonstrating accountability as an individual and team member
  • Knowledgeable in administration and policies, interprets them in absence of administrative staff
  • Interviews, hires, develops, trains, and retains employees; plans, assigns, and leads work; appraises performance; rewards and coaches employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems
