Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Board of Nursing - active license in the state of practice upon hire
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work specified hours (PRN, as needed shifts)

Responsibilities

Supervises and directs patient care considering staff competency and skill levels, assisting with critical or complex patients or unmanageable activity levels
Serves as a resource for staff on policy, procedure, ethical or legal questions, and hospital services
Monitors staffing levels, coordinates and implements staffing plans to meet patient volume, identifies and manages personnel/patient issues in absence of clinical leaders
Coordinates utilization of resources including staff, ancillary staff, equipment, and facilitates patient placement/throughput
Investigates problems and complaints from patients, families, physicians, and staff, takes appropriate action, handles customer relations, resolves patient complaints, communicates risk management concerns, and initiates follow-up
Actively uses the nursing process in goal-focused patient care, demonstrating accountability as an individual and team member
Knowledgeable in administration and policies, interprets them in absence of administrative staff
Interviews, hires, develops, trains, and retains employees; plans, assigns, and leads work; appraises performance; rewards and coaches employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems
