Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) - active license in the state of practice (Board of Nursing) upon hire
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Preferred: 1-3 years clinical experience as RN
Preferred: Supervisory or management experience

Responsibilities

Supervises and directs patient care considering competency and skill levels of staff, assisting with critical or complex patients or when activity level is unmanageable
Serves as a resource for staff in areas of policy or procedure, ethical or legal questions, and other questions related to hospital services
Monitors staffing levels, coordinates and implements staffing plan to meet patient volume, identifies and manages personnel/patient issues in the absence of clinical leaders
Coordinates utilization of resources including staff, ancillary staff, equipment, and facilitates patient placement/throughput
Investigates problems and complaints from patients, families, physicians, and staff and takes appropriate action
Responsible for customer relations including resolution of patient complaints, communication of risk management concerns, and initiation of appropriate follow-up
Actively uses the nursing process in goal-focused patient care, demonstrating accountability as an individual and team member
Knowledgeable in administration, policies, and able to interpret these in the absence of administrative staff
Interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Provides operational and administrative oversight in the delivery of patient care, serving as a resource person to staff both clinically and administratively, and acts as the off-shift representative of management making administrative decisions involving patients, families, and staff
