Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Ability to work full-time with various shifts and work hours
  • Competency in emergency operational procedures, including CPR and emergency measures
  • Skill in operating and troubleshooting home dialysis therapy-related equipment
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures, state and federal regulations for dialysis care
  • Ability to assess patients' home environments and readiness for home dialysis

Responsibilities

  • Empower, engage, and train dialysis patients on peritoneal and home hemodialysis using state-of-the-art programs and equipment
  • Conduct initial home visits with another staff member present
  • Function as onsite Patient Educator and Case Manager
  • Provide safe and effective training and oversight of home dialysis therapies in compliance with policies and regulations
  • Rotate with other licensed staff to ensure adequate coverage
  • Participate in staff training, orientation of new staff, and required staff meetings
  • Deliver outstanding quality patient care per company goals; submit CQI information and participate in CQI meetings
  • Identify and evaluate candidates for Home Therapies Program, including home environment assessment
  • Train patients and families on safe operation and maintenance of home therapies equipment
  • Educate patients and families on ESRD, Kidney Options Program, renal dialysis, access, and related conditions
  • Provide safe and effective home therapy support care; assess patient response to therapy
  • Communicate patient issues to physicians; report adverse events and equipment problems
  • Coordinate patient transfers to hemodialysis clinic when needed
  • Review, transcribe, and enter physician lab orders; handle lab specimen collection, packaging, and reporting
  • Maintain competency in emergency procedures and administer medications as prescribed
  • Maintain records on controlled substances as required by law
