Responsibilities

  • Utilize evidence-based nutrition practices to provide dietary counseling and support to patients with severe mental illness in a clinical setting
  • Conduct behavioral assessments to understand patients' health and behavioral needs, and coordinate tailored health coaching plans
  • Implement coaching plans using behavior change principles to identify barriers and develop strategies to overcome them
  • Support behavioral interventions related to dietitian-led dietary modification plans
  • Monitor and evaluate patient interventions and outcomes, adapting and modifying as needed
  • Lead daily and weekly group activities incorporating light movement and physical wellness into care plans
  • Coordinate with psychiatrists, therapists, and support teams to provide feedback on patient goal attainment and clinical issues
  • Participate in research projects, working with patients and research teams to implement them
  • Assess clients’ physical health and develop comprehensive health plans focusing on lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, sleep, financial health, relationship health, treatment compliance)
  • Conduct individual and group coaching sessions to help patients maintain treatment goals, reduce stress, improve mindfulness, nutrition, medication adherence, and increase physical exercise
