Regional Sales Director - Structural Heart TAVI (Southwest)

Position Overview

Abbott is a global healthcare leader dedicated to restoring health and improving the quality of life through innovative solutions for the treatment of Structural Heart disease. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Sales Director (RSD) for our Structural Heart TAVI team, covering the Southwest region. This role is crucial in driving sales performance and clinical excellence within the TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) franchise. The RSD will report to the US Area Vice President and is expected to reside within the assigned region, with travel potentially exceeding 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement regional sales strategies to achieve franchise goals and support the regional sales plan.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Territory Managers and Clinical Sales Specialists.
    • Recruit, onboard, and provide ongoing coaching for sales and clinical performance.
    • Assist direct reports with quarterly goals, development plans, and conduct annual performance reviews.
    • Foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that enables all team members to contribute fully.
  • Market Development:
    • Identify and evaluate market opportunities and sales potential to establish and achieve sales and clinical objectives.
    • Drive customer and account engagement planning to advance the commercial sales process.
    • Foster proper targeting and engagement strategies.
  • Clinical Support & Education:
    • Provide competent clinical coaching to the team to support TAVI procedures and ensure safe outcomes.
    • Drive continuing education within the region to ensure quality and best-in-class customer support.
    • Meet authorization training requirements for effective clinical coaching.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Provide accurate sales forecasting and drive accountability for forecasting within the team.
    • Monitor team compliance with CRM systems (SFDC, Mentor, Power BI, Vablet).
    • Assist with contract negotiation and customer engagement.
  • Team Culture: Cultivate a safe learning environment and an uncompromised positive team culture. Create an entrepreneurial and supportive work environment through regular team calls, workshops, meetings, and individual discussions.

Requirements

  • Must reside within the Southwest region.
  • Ability to travel in excess of 50% depending on staffing and regional demands.
  • Proven sales leadership experience in the medical device industry, preferably in Structural Heart or TAVI.
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and clinical trial activities.
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring, and people development skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM and sales analytics tools.
