Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Must meet the medical requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • High school diploma or general education (incomplete in description, but implied)
  • Commercial or professional driving experience preferred, but not required
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis (up to 80 lbs. manual heavy lifting mentioned)
  • Able to perform repeated manual tasks, including using a hand truck and navigating stairs

Responsibilities

  • Drive a company vehicle limited to a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 14,900 to deliver foodservice products to assigned stops
  • Load and unload the vehicle for multi-stop deliveries
  • Transport deliveries by driving assigned vehicles
  • Use hand truck to move product from the delivery vehicle into the customer location, including up and down stairs
  • Deliver products (meats, produce, frozen goods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, supplies) to meet scheduled delivery times
  • Unload products safely and stage them in customer-designated spaces
  • Accurately record delivery information, including operating a hand scanner and company documentation
  • Handle proper documentation and disposition for return products or damaged merchandise
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and check invoices for completeness
  • Collect payments (cash or checks) if necessary
  • Communicate delivery-customer issues to appropriate authority (e.g., Customer Service, Territory Manager, Transportation Supervisor)
  • Follow designated stop sequence for the day
  • Monitor refrigeration system on the delivery vehicle consistently and follow safe food handling procedures
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g., fluid levels, tires, windshield wash, fuel)
  • Deliver in inclement weather and make frequent stops during shifts
  • Complete all functions safely, timely, and in accordance with DOT regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
