Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in handbags, backpacks and/or the luggage industry
  • Experience solving problems with factory partners and team members
  • Experience with raw materials and finished goods testing
  • Knowledgeable of incoming raw materials inspection processes, in-line inspection, and finished goods inspection
  • Basic English proficiency (both written and verbal communication)
  • Competent with Google Suite and general data entry computer skills
  • Detail-oriented and well organized
  • Self-motivated, able to act independently, and set priorities
  • Team player
  • Willing to travel throughout Asia, and to factories around the Phnom Penh area

Responsibilities

  • Execute Away’s QA/QC vision across suppliers, overseeing inspections, testing, and quality reporting
  • Support new product development
  • Drive corrective actions with suppliers and ensure consistent product quality and efficiency across regions
  • Conduct inspections on incoming materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods at supplier factories
  • Assist factory Incoming Material QC person(s) to inspect material from sub-contractors and report mass or critical defects promptly
  • Inspect semi-finished goods or randomly inspect assembly stations in the production line, and remind production line manager of defective parts
  • Execute Final Quality Control process, randomly sampling finished cartons based on AQL standard sampling plan
  • Record inspection data and summarize non-conforming products per standard operation procedure
  • Ensure factory does not ship quarantined defective products or assemble with defect parts
  • Assist factory QC with testing protocols, collect accurate test data, and generate test reports
  • Work closely with Away’s QC inspector to manage new product development and production at multiple locations
  • Lead inspections and assessments at factory locations, establishing QC procedures and documentation for pre-production, in-process reviews, and final inspections
  • Prioritize issues and assign tasks to inspectors based on quality reports and observations
  • Visit factories to identify issues, raise them to factory management, and establish corrective action plans with suppliers
  • Recommend improvements to enhance quality and efficiency
