Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related technical field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Understanding and working knowledge of automotive industry requirements and tools, such as IATF 16949 and Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, etc.)
  • Familiar with process control quality tools and statistical control methods in problem solving
  • Background and expertise in recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance (i.e., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP)
  • Ability to read and write technical specifications, reports, and programs
  • Ability to proficiently use computer programs such as Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively with internal/external personnel, customers, and suppliers
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Proficient with computers and demonstrated skills in office applications such as MS Word

Responsibilities

  • Develop, apply, and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective action using 8D, 5 whys, and fishbone diagrams
  • Serve as the primary quality assurance resource to department supervisor(s) for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a customer liaison for customer complaints
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer
  • Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports
  • Perform containment and certification activities
  • Review customers' purchase orders, contracts, and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans
  • Develop, execute, and analyze quality reporting measures
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends, and losses
  • Assist in training equipment operators or other staff on validation protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Review suppliers' purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements
  • Perform internal quality system, manufacturing process, and product audits
  • Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented
  • Compile, write, and deliver training material on quality standards and activities
  • Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and industry trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control
  • Participate in internal and external training programs to maintain knowledge of validation principles
  • Adhere to EMS and IATF 16949 Policies and Procedures
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
