Requirements

  • Ability to perform and review chemical and physical testing of raw materials, bulk, finished, combination products, and utilities according to internal and compendia specifications
  • Capability to participate in investigations for questionable analytical results
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation (e.g., UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, FTIR, pH meters, viscometers, specific gravity apparatus, melting point apparatus, analytical balances, polarimeters, GC, HPLC chromatographs, X-Ray, SprayView, SprayTec, Empower, and other computerized systems)
  • Knowledge of preparing testing solutions and samples according to written instructions
  • Adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for accurate and legible documentation of raw data
  • Completion of training on methods and procedures prior to execution
  • Compliance with cGMP practices, internal and external regulations, policies, and quality control systems
  • Familiarity with laboratory priority reports, in-process boards, manufacturing rhythm wheels, and business rules to support supply chain cycle time goals

Responsibilities

  • Perform all laboratory analysis and activities in accordance with cGMP practices, internal/external regulations, policies, and supply chain cycle time goals; follow laboratory priority reports, in-process boards, schedules for raw materials, drug product/combination product testing, and special projects; assure compliance with QC initiatives
  • Verify (peer review) documentation of data generated by other QC Scientists in a timely manner according to specifications; inform supervisors/managers of deviations for investigation and corrective action; maintain solutions and samples until lot release for potential investigations
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation with proper training, ensuring equipment is calibrated and preventive maintenance (PM) is current prior to use
  • Actively participate in projects, safety/environmental initiatives, GMP/SOP trainings, and special company activities for employee involvement, professional development, and improvements (e.g., simplifying/reducing environmental/compliance aspects)
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and neat records of all work performed; report results/deviations clearly, concisely, accurately, and within standard timelines with limited errors
  • Work on special projects such as equipment calibration, process validation, cleaning, and method transfers
  • Perform any special tasks assigned by QC Management in support of the Order Release Department
  • Assure compliance with all quality control policies, procedures, and systems to ensure timely release of high-quality products supporting the supply chain
