Requirements

Degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Microbiology, or related field
Experience managing a large Quality Control department (e.g., QC Chemistry and QC Microbiology with over 60 professionals)
Detailed understanding of international cGMP and regulatory requirements relevant to QC operations
Leadership experience in fostering team excellence, performance management, and continuous improvement
Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and liaise effectively
Experience in laboratory settings with adherence to GMP, safety standards, and PPE requirements (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
Knowledge of EH&S (Environment, Health & Safety) procedures, including emergency protocols, accident reporting, and safe systems of work

Responsibilities

Coordinate day-to-day operations of QC Chemistry and Microbiology Departments
Manage performance, appraise, set, and assess objectives for direct reports, ensuring motivation and adherence to company procedures
Ensure sufficient training for all QC team members and maintain training documentation
Achieve RFT (Right First Time) and OTD (On-Time Delivery) goals, meeting departmental benchmark targets within timelines
Manage stability programme, reserve sample storage, cleaning validation programme, and validation of laboratory equipment and testing methods
Write, review, and approve technical documentation within the department
Maintain compliance with international cGMP, regulatory requirements, departmental procedures, and site/corporate/client standards
Plan adequate resources, assure effective task execution, quality problem-solving, GMP-compliant solutions, and drive continuous improvement
Communicate effectively on-site and across the corporation, representing the Swindon QC Department
Lead introduction of new products, collaborating with clients and Technical Transfer team
Ensure continuous readiness for health authority inspections, client audits, and internal inspections
Build successful work environments, provide mentorship, recruit diverse talent, onboard, set goals, give feedback, and conduct appraisals

Adhere to EH&S regulations, report and investigate accidents/near misses/breaches
Perform any other tasks as required
