QA Automation Engineer

📐 About this role

As a QA Automation Engineer at Writer, you will work closely with the product and engineering teams to deliver a product used by tens of thousands of people daily. You will be instrumental in shaping key aspects of the QA process, defining critical quality KPIs and metrics. Your role will involve driving testing efforts and leading our automation strategies, ensuring the highest possible quality bar for all releases.

This position reports to the Head of QA Engineering.

🦸🏻‍♀️ Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development teams to establish automation strategies and deployment processes.
  • Integrate automation testing protocols into existing code and engineering workflows.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Conduct automated and manual testing for Writer and its extensions/integrations.
  • Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks.
  • Perform operational and performance tests to verify that the environment meets functional requirements, user expectations, and performance specifications.
  • Troubleshoot effectively and demonstrate proficiency in QA processes, quality management tools, and methodologies.
  • Communicate in a clear and concise manner.
  • Take initiative on assigned projects and tasks.

⭐️ Is this you?

  • 4+ years of QA engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of automated testing experience.
  • Experience building code-based automation frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation using Selenium and Java, or Cypress and JavaScript.
  • Experience with UI automation frameworks.
  • Professional SaaS experience (B2B), particularly with customer and user-facing testing.
  • Proven ability to craft test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
  • Efficient in effort estimation, planning, prioritization, and time management.
  • Proactive communication skills (sync and async).
  • Flexible and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with Playwright automation.
  • API testing experience.
  • Experience with Chrome extension automation.
