Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of all PSD requirements in the P&C STA*R program
- Completion of all PSD requirements in the P&C STA*R program and six (6) years as a P&C Technician or acceptable job related experience
- Significant amount of time in the field performing P&C services
- Ability to routinely travel away from home
- Ability to work extended hours
- Ability to perform strenuous physical effort such as climbing, lifting, working in temperature extremes, and dusty environments
- Applicable skills/experience to determine level of position
Responsibilities
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot protection and control equipment for Fossil Generation Facilities
- Perform testing of electromechanical and microprocessor protective relays
- Perform testing of instrument transformers, transducers, meters, and associated equipment
- Use schematic diagrams and system knowledge to troubleshoot and repair system protection control equipment and relays
- Complete all documentation on projects and field work
- Maintain all Plant protective relaying and associated control circuits (including testing, calibration, functional tests, troubleshooting, and installation of upgrades), such as generator relaying, main power transformer, unit auxiliary transformer, start-up/standby transformer relaying, all medium voltage switchgear relaying and transfer schemes, and plant/switchyard interface relaying
- Maintain Plant Metering, including MWh metering calibrations and upgrade installations, and voltage, current, watt, var, and frequency transducer calibrations and testing of associated equipment
- Maintain ancillary equipment, such as emergency bearing oil pump test and current transformer meggar test
- Provide outage support and interface with plant I&C personnel
- Interface with outside contractors
- Provide and/or support problem solving using troubleshooting skills and recorder data
- Lead new installation wiring verification, checkout, and functional test
- Revise and maintain all associated drawings
- Conduct diagnostic tests on generation facilities’ electrical equipment (e.g., Generator CTs, PTs, and ancillary equipment)
- Install, calibrate, and maintain equipment associated with data acquisition and remote telemetry to support required ERCOT and NERC protocols
