Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years qualified experience OR two-year associate’s degree in the same required disciplines with 7 years of qualified experience
  • Two years of experience as a Project Manager (Salary Grade 7) OR demonstrated competencies, knowledge and skillset through achieved results in a shorter timeline
  • Qualified experience includes work in project management, major construction field experience, project estimating, project controls, project engineering, and/or related areas

Responsibilities

  • Manage one or more intermediate or complex projects within a matrix team environment, providing leadership, direction, training, coordination, and effective communication to initiate, plan, execute, monitor/control, and close projects safely, efficiently, economically, and with risk balance to achieve goals and maximum customer satisfaction
  • Provide project transparency and develop relationships, effectively communicating with all stakeholders (internal/external customers, team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, industry peers) to enable sound business decisions
  • Enable and promote team-level continuous improvement activities to increase quality and optimize value delivery
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise assigned project activities, becoming proficient in all aspects and utilizing project management principles/techniques (Waterfall, Agile)
  • Support and hold employees/contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on Zero Harm
  • Manage, develop, review, and coordinate project/outage plans, schedules, and budgets; manage costs and timely reallocation of funding
  • Effectively communicate project details/status updates; lead planning meetings, project updates, and stakeholder presentations; provide clear/concise written and oral reports
  • Develop and actively manage working relationships with project team, plant/operating company staff, internal/external customers/partners, contractors, vendors, and suppliers; foster teamwork and pursue customer satisfaction
  • Provide specific guidance, instruction, and training to improve design, systems, procedures, processes, schedules, and costs; challenge others confidently with informed understanding
  • Ensure maximum customer satisfaction and effective/efficient performance on intermediate projects at minimum
  • Mentor other project managers and direct/supervise sub-team project managers as assigned
  • Develop and manage procurement plans for outside resources; manage contracts (RFPs, bid evaluation, vendor selection, negotiations, performance oversight, contract compliance)
  • Conduct/supervise closeout processes, including analysis of project success against objectives and benefits
  • Develop understanding of AEP project management organizational standards and assist in managing projects to those standards
  • Manage programs as assigned
