Requirements

  • 4 year undergraduate degree, preferably in a technical field such as engineering, architecture, construction management, or 8 years equivalent work experience
  • Continuing education and studies at the post graduate level (i.e. MBA or Master’s degree in applicable field) desirable
  • Advanced understanding of project estimates, including the basis of estimate, assumptions, exclusions, and risks; ability to identify estimate gaps; understand trade-offs in factors that impact the estimate and knock-on effects; align the team in understanding and delivering within the baseline parameters
  • Advanced understanding of project schedules from development through completion of the project; align the team in understanding and delivering within the schedule baseline parameters; key driver in developing schedule risk mitigation strategies and understand the interdependencies of the schedule activities
  • Ability to manage through conflict, complexity, and to problem-solve issues to resolution
  • Highly adaptable; able to change direction frequently without losing effectiveness or demonstrating distress

Responsibilities

  • Lead large projects, complex attractions, or portfolios of smaller projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, integration, documentation, safety, & quality
  • Develop the project delivery strategy, ensure team understanding, and lead the team in delivering in accordance with the defined strategies; periodically reassess strategies for effectiveness and change course when needed
  • Establish a project culture of proactive change and risk management in addition to leading the implementation, and ensuring the health of these programs
  • Lead the project in advanced problem solving and reaching balanced, timely decisions with incomplete or unclear information in a manner that ensures team buy in
  • Understand advanced project sequencing and integration relationships, provoke discussions that lead to identifying efficiency gains, and contribute to innovative solutions
  • Effectively handle project contingency, authorize its use, and identify the opportunity to reduce cost throughout the project lifecycle to return funds to contingency
  • Lead negotiations for contracts, project changes, and claims
  • Deliver succinct, highly effective presentations and recommendations to executive management including team preparation
  • Reconcile challenging agendas, influence outcomes, work towards results, and provide focus and structure to teams to optimize project performance
  • Demonstrate good situational awareness and use basic emotional intelligence to positively influence outcomes
  • Supervise the team, resolve staffing requirements, and conduct performance evaluations
  • Conduct independent project health checks
  • Leverage lessons learned and standard methodologies to increase project efficiency, reduce risk, and educate the team
  • Create impactful teams through leadership style, team design and chemistry, continuous alignment, clear communication of goals and action plans, decisiveness, and feedback on performance
  • Collaborate, build balanced cross-functional relationships, and provide leadership to internal and external organizations including project team, design studios, operations, municipalities, vendors, and contractors
  • Act as an agent for change and continuous improvement; champion knowledge sharing to the team and WDI PM community including training and lessons learned
  • Serve as a trainer and develop training material, including functional standards, guidelines, best practices, and templates
  • Support recruiting and developing talent
