Requirements

  • Good understanding of Automotive Driveline or Powertrain components
  • Good analytical skills for designing and analyzing components and sub-systems
  • Thorough knowledge of component drawing requirements, including tolerances, GD&T, and their use in stack calculations

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis and calculations on components and sub-systems and present rationale to program team
  • Issue CAE requests and provide direction as needed for analysis of systems and components
  • Create and maintain component and/or sub-system DFMEAs and use them to define Special Characteristics
  • Create design work orders and provide direction to CAD as necessary to develop the product design. Approve and release engineering drawings
  • Create ADVP&R to validate components and write lab work orders to direct technicians to conduct testing on components
  • Analyse components for wear and durability
  • Write test reports relating to the outcome of tests performed
  • Be the point of contact for technical discussions with Purchasing, suppliers, and Supplier Development Engineers
  • Create technical criteria for supplier selection and participate in the selection process
  • Support global engineering organization with knowledge and best practices
  • Promote component re-use through knowledge of the global component family
  • Review / Approve internal and external change requests
  • Provide technical support for component issues arising in validation or warranty concerns
  • Provide cost reduction ideas for their respective components
