Requirements

High degree of technical expertise in injection molding, tooling, process development, and vendor support for thermoplastic materials used in medical device components
Knowledge in LSR molding and Polyisoprene rubber molding is desirable
Strong teamwork and collaborative skills with functions such as R&D, Product Design, Procurement, Quality, and Marketing
Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance on supply chain continuity and advancement projects
Fully independent capability to function with very little or no direction from Associate/Director of Plastics Engineering
Ability to represent Plastics Engineering with highest level of integrity, efficiency, and agility
Ability to work on multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously

Responsibilities

Serve as main point of contact on molding and tooling projects in injection molding and extrusion area
Perform Design for Molding on plastic molded components, working closely with R&D, Assembly/Automation, and Tooling vendors
Provide plastics resin and material grades expertise to New Product (NP) and Supply Chain projects
Take ownership of technical problem resolution for tooling assets at internal and external molding vendors
Manage technical vendors, including Asset Management, Molding Process Development, and Component Quality requirements/compliance
Assist and supervise execution of scientific molding process developments and DOEs at internal sites and external vendors
Identify needs for building new assets for capacity expansion or replacement
Execute asset health evaluation, repair, and/or replacement strategy
Work closely with Direct and Indirect Procurement to guide tooling strategy based on short- and long-term demand forecasts
Perform inspection and assessment of assets at internal manufacturing sites and external suppliers
Assist Procurement and Transfer Office on supplier and vendor change initiatives for cost savings
Own, execute, and guide purchase of production equipment, including molding machines, tools, extruders, dies, and auxiliary equipment
Write, execute, and report on production platform validation activities
Perform NCR/CAPA investigations and tasks
Assist internal sites and external vendors on molding and tooling initiatives
