Candidates must possess at least 10 years of experience in Machine Learning engineering or architecture, with deep expertise in ML architecture, MLOps, feature stores, data pipelines, inference, and monitoring infrastructure on AWS. Experience building large-scale, compliant ML architectures in the financial services or a similarly regulated industry is required, along with extensive experience using product-oriented, user experience-centered approaches for building ML platforms and services. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is a proven ability to develop structure, advance execution, and measure performance in complex projects. A proactive, strategic mindset, a bias toward action, high ethical standards, and a Bachelor's degree are preferred.
The Principal Engineer, Machine Learning Architecture will lead the technical vision and development of ML infrastructure for end-to-end ML model development and delivery. Responsibilities include collaborating with ML Science, Product, and Engineering teams to refine ML development journeys, define target state ML architecture, and drive technical design decisions. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to drive adoption of best practices, improve operational posture, provide career mentorship to Data+ML team members, and participate in the design and build-out of Marqeta's data and ML ecosystem. Key duties include building a technical vision for ML infrastructure aligned with business strategy, creating infrastructure for prototyping, data/feature pipelines, model training, deployment, and monitoring on AWS, and ensuring operational excellence and adherence to SLAs.
