Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required (Chemical Engineering preferred; must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
  • Two (2) years relevant refining, chemical or petrochemical industry experience required (Technical Services or Economics & Planning experience preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Issue two-month forecast on a weekly basis, reviewing unit and tank farm constraints, market prices, product demands, and feedstock availability
  • Work with Tech Service and Operations to identify and optimize around unit constraints
  • Issue the daily unit target sheet
  • Explain forecast variances, evaluate feedstock and product opportunities, and run sensitivities as needed
  • Provide incremental economics on a weekly basis to support optimization efforts within the refinery
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to guide business decisions around outages and slowdowns
  • Analyze capital project value and provide transparent economics
  • Serve on the refinery quality team
  • Post audit LP results vs. actual results to ensure model accuracy
  • Provide backup coverage for the Light oil, Gasoline, Crude oil and Black oil coordinators as necessary after training
  • Support daily refinery material balances
  • Train to use the refinery linear program (PIMS), master it, serve as short-term forecaster, and learn APS
  • Actively engage in ensuring all products meet specifications
  • Interact with Operations, Technical Services, and commercial organizations to understand constraints, communicate economic drivers, and evaluate opportunities on feedstocks, products, and inter-refinery transfers
