Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial optimization of refinery operations by integrating feedstock selection, intermediate and product placement, and supply chain economics with market analysis and margin insights
  • Apply a working knowledge of refinery operations, economics, and market dynamics to identify, quantify, and communicate strategies that close performance gaps and capture missed opportunities
  • Collaborate with local and regional value chain teams to align on economic drivers and ensure that planning decisions support enterprise-wide optimization
  • Develop and maintain executable refinery production plans using linear programming (LP) models; adjust plans in response to margin shifts, demand changes, or operational constraints
  • Analyze and optimize buy-versus-make decisions by evaluating costs, quality, supply logistics, and market conditions in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Build and refine backcasting models to evaluate historical performance, validate planning assumptions, and uncover margin leakage or optimization opportunities
  • Conduct structured analyses of historical refinery data to identify trends, performance patterns, and actionable insights. Ensure data accuracy and completeness by working closely with supporting teams
  • Assist in developing decision-making frameworks and communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders through clear and concise presentations
  • Contribute to project support activities with a focus on data integrity, issue identification, and solution development under guidance
  • Understand local refinery planning deliverables and scheduling processes, including APS, and contribute to the creation of production plans with support from team members
