Requirements

At least 3 years experience as a pipelayer
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) strongly preferred
Valid appropriate state driver’s license (general operator license) required; Class A or B CDL strongly preferred
OSHA 10 Certification is preferred
Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions
Strong communication skills to coordinate workflow with production operator
Ability to work under general supervision according to work schedule
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Knowledge of and ability to determine appropriate grades
Ability to figure grade & read plans
Excellent stamina; ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles without fatigue, jump, sprint or throw
Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
Ability to work near moving mechanical parts, in outside conditions including inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt; tolerate loud noise

Responsibilities

Lay and join concrete, plastic, or cast-iron pipe for drains, sewers, and water mains, including rigging pipe for hoisting, setting pipe to grade, and affixing pipe joints
Prepare and grade trenches either manually or by communicating with onsite equipment operators
Perform manual labor and assist other crew members with hands-on work as necessary
Work cooperatively with the crew to accomplish tasks
Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and safe for use
Participate in training and other forms of development to strengthen technical, safety, and other skills
Operate construction equipment as required
Consistently monitor and maintain compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including equipment operated
Perform a variety of general labor tasks as required for the job
Other duties as required
