Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) - Licensed by Board of Medicine and qualified to practice medicine in the state of services, board certified or board eligible upon hire
  • Or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) - Licensed by Board of Medicine and qualified to practice medicine in the state of services, board certified or board eligible upon hire
  • Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license (state and federal) based on state of practice upon hire
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work primarily days with night, weekend, and holiday on-call involvement

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice
  • Provides medical services and health education to patients and family members, contributing to individual and group health education to increase motivation for self-care
  • Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Interprets information from the diagnostic process and formulates appropriate plans of care
  • Provides quality care, demonstrating appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices
  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care and provides patient instruction on environment of care and safety standards
  • Understands, applies, and supports practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards
  • Meets regularly with the care team for consultation, collaboration, and to promote quality care; assures appropriate patient referrals
  • Maintains patient records and accurate information
  • Promotes Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
  • Maintains confidentiality
