Requirements

Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in the state of practice upon hire
Associate's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program (preferred)
Less than 1 year related experience and/or training (preferred)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care and documentation in accordance with policies and procedures under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist
Follow directions and instructions for treatment and other tasks as directed by the Licensed Physical Therapist
Provide care in an effective and competent manner
Follow ethics and standards as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association and Avera policy and procedures
Follow practices and standards per the State Board of Medical Examiners for licensed physical therapy assistants
Provide treatments to patients in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with the PT plan of care and physician’s orders
Communicate appropriately with the therapist to ensure effective treatment
Produce appropriate, specific, clinical documentation for patient care given and assist with scheduling and paperwork associated with patient care
Document progress notes in accordance with departmental policies
Charge patients appropriately for treatments given on a daily basis under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
Assist with paperwork activities, file charts, and other duties including billing, documentation, correspondence, and file management
Assist with clinical education of physical therapist assistant students
