  • Acting as a role model for the pharmacy team, demonstrating genuine care and setting the bar for excellence
  • Exhibiting best practices when working the bench, including quarterbacking the team, providing meaningful patient counseling, and abiding by all legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Knowledge of pharmacy workflow procedures, safety guardrails, inventory best practices (especially cold chain products), and state Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Ability to oversee and coach pharmacy team members, including onboarding new Technician and Pharmacist hires, ensuring timely completion of training/licensure
  • Skills in performance management, including direct observation, feedback, annual reviews, and closing performance gaps for Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists
  • Capability to partner with Store Manager for talent pipeline and cross-training colleagues for pharmacy roles
  • Proficiency in immunization practices and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care, promoting best practices and leading through change
  • Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through effective coaching and follow-up
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing adherence to pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, genuine care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving insurance/medication issues
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, identifying and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to immunize
  • Manage pharmacy inventory by following and coaching on best practices, with focus on protecting cold chain products
  • Conduct onboarding and training for new Technicians and Pharmacists on CVS workflow, ensuring timely completion
  • Ensure full compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to Rx DL as needed
  • Partner with Store Manager to maintain a talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues for pharmacy work
  • Oversee Staff Pharmacists and DPSs, managing performance through observation, feedback, validation, annual reviews, and gap closure
  • Support novel program awareness, onboard new hires, and recognize colleagues for success
  • Identify and address performance opportunities within the pharmacy team
