Requirements

  • Act as a role model demonstrating genuine care and setting standards for the pharmacy team
  • Lead and develop a pharmacy team providing exceptional patient care, promoting best practices, and leading through change
  • Identify and address performance opportunities, support novel program awareness, onboard new hires, and recognize colleagues
  • Exhibit best practices when working the bench, including quarterbacking the team, providing meaningful patient counseling, and abiding by legal/regulatory guidelines
  • Hold pharmacy licensure (implied for role)
  • Knowledge of CVS workflow, pharmacy operations, inventory best practices, cold chain management, and state Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Ability to oversee staff, conduct training/onboarding, manage performance, deliver reviews, and partner with store management

Responsibilities

  • Live the purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance through coaching and follow-up
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing adherence to workflow procedures and safety guardrails
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving insurance/medication issues; coach team to do the same
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; identify, engage, and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization
  • Manage pharmacy inventory by following and coaching best practices, focusing on cold chain protection
  • Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding for store and district, including CVS workflow training, ensuring timely completion of training/licensure
  • Ensure full compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues to Rx DL as needed
  • Partner with Store Manager to maintain talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues and ensure their training/licensure progress
  • Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (where applicable), manage performance via observation, feedback, validation, annual reviews, and gap closure
