Requirements

  • BS plus minimum of 2 years’ experience or equivalent demonstrated competency
  • Engineering background with process HAZOP experience
  • Understands typical application and capabilities of complex permitting practices
  • Effectively communicate objectives, plans, and able to debate conceptual points
  • Prepares and directs the preparation of permit applications
  • Organizes and delivers effective presentations
  • Able to resolve conflict within team and redirect team priorities
  • Effectively employs group and individual problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Follow the work processes of permitting for operating plants (such as ASU, H2, ETG, GG, PGG, etc.) to effectively manage and administer existing permits requirements
  • Apply for, negotiate, and obtain necessary permits and approvals required per regulation
  • Interpret permitting regulatory requirements, follow permitting compliance matrices, provide initial compliance matrix training to Operations, and provide ongoing compliance support and training
  • Monitor emerging permitting issues and regulations that can impact Air Products operations, services, products, and permitting strategies
  • Participate, as needed, in trade organizations and interface with various agencies to advocate regulatory changes, where appropriate
  • Provide new plant dangerous workplace permit support, including: early engagement to identify risks, identify gaps and coordinate teams for permit document preparation (plant introduction, dangerous chemical management, environment monitoring plan, management plans for dangerous equipment/pressure vessels, labor health management, safety organization, automatic inspection plan, contractor management, labor safety & health training, incident management), pressure vessel permit applications (re-inspection, completion inspection, documentation consolidation), safety device verification, and government communication plans
  • Manage routine permits for operating plants, including: dangerous workplace permit re-evaluation, annual dangerous workplace internal audit, annual pressure vessel inspections (application, fee disposal, scheduling, documentation, site inspection), alternate inspection method applications, and quarterly review meetings across plants for inspection lessons learned
