Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of SAP/ERP systems preferred
  • Experience in fast-paced industrial lean environment preferred
  • Preferred 5+ years of work experience with BorgWarner
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Reasoning ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Computer skills: Knowledge of SAP software, Leading to Lean, Excel Spreadsheet, PowerPoint Presentations
  • Ability to work with little direction and/or supervision
  • Strong communication skills between team, support groups, and/or plant leadership teams
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, including during operation of stand-up lifts
  • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs repetitively
  • Stepping up and down off lift; walking long distances over extended periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled environment
  • Repetitive motion activities including box cutting, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts
  • Key competencies: Safety, Initiative and high sense of urgency, Judgement/Decision Making, Teamwork/Interpersonal Skills, Internal/external Customer Service Orientation, Attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Willing and able to learn new things within a reasonable amount of time
  • Wear all required PPE

Responsibilities

  • Support 5S / Housekeeping activities as required
  • SAP entries and L2L (Leading to Lean) transactions required as needed
  • Support operations in gathering data and driving improvements with a specific focus on waste reduction, enabling material flow, quality and cost throughout their area of support
  • Create, analyze and deliver reports to all levels of the organization to gauge effectiveness of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate and share ideas generated by the continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility
  • Safely perform all tasks assigned by Leadership including all positions within the Physical Logistics department
  • Demonstrate BW Core beliefs and be an example to all Material Operators
  • Support and drive self-development activities and department flexibility through learning multiple positions
  • Safely operate all equipment in the Materials Fleet including: Sit-down Forklifts, Stand Up Lifts (Both Reach and Pacer), Tuggers, Electric Jacks, BW company vehicle
  • Develop and document PC&L department work instructions
  • Be productive and motivated while completing assigned tasks on time
  • Audit task performance to standards
  • Assist in administration of daily operations management meetings
  • Work well with others and provide excellent customer service
  • Report progress to Management as needed
  • Meet physical logistics KPI (Safety, Internal / External Delivery, Logistics Quality, Cost (Scrap / HPUS), Associate Engagement and Teamwork)
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures
  • Other projects/tasks assigned
