Candidates must possess SAP knowledge and up-to-date understanding of UK payroll legislation including PAYE, Court Orders, NICs, and Statutory Payments. A proven track record of processing high-volume payrolls (3000+) in a similar organization is essential, along with experience in reviewing and developing payroll procedures and policies. The role requires the ability to apply current legislation, identify potential company risks, and maintain GDPR compliance. Experience with benefits and their impact on PAYE/NICs, exposure to payroll reconciliations, and familiarity with monthly/annual HMRC returns are necessary. The ability to deputize for the Payroll Manager/Analyst and a good understanding of Auto Enrolment and RTI procedures are also required.
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accurate processing of all UK payroll-related matters, including managing monthly interface files to SAP, validating data, and overseeing end-to-end payrolls. Key duties include validating T&A entries, checking and validating maternity cases, tax forms, and manual calculations for backdated payments. The specialist will mentor payroll administrators, resolve escalated queries, collaborate with internal partners on payroll issues, and identify trends or risks to improve processes. Responsibilities also encompass managing General Ledger functions for payroll, liaising with the Compensation and Benefits team, processing pensions, managing shared mailboxes, assisting with payroll audits and projects, and ensuring compliance with Auto Enrolment, RTI, and Enhanced Holiday Payments requirements.
