Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of payroll, finance, or related experience, with experience processing payroll for large companies (10,000+ employees) and multiple union payrolls. Experience with Workday or similar HCM systems, intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, v lookups), and familiarity with payroll applications like ADP, Lawson, Ceridian, or Kronos are required. Basic knowledge of the FLSA regular rate of pay calculation and multi-state payroll processing experience are also necessary. A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is preferred.
The Payroll Analyst I is responsible for producing accurate payroll entries for unionized employees, interpreting and applying Collective Bargaining Agreements, and preparing/analyzing union health & welfare and pension contribution calculations. This role involves maintaining and reporting union dues deductions, processing weekly union 401K contributions, and auditing payroll cycles for accuracy in deductions and transactions like retro calculations, union dues, and FLSA OT premiums. The analyst will also process special payments according to agreements, collaborate with HR and other cross-functional teams, prepare payroll reports, and support team knowledge transfer and system testing. Confidential data maintenance within payroll systems is also a key responsibility.
