Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll administration with multi-provincial payroll experience
  • Strong proficiency in Workday payroll system
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and tax laws across multiple provinces
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other payroll-related software
  • Certification in Payroll (e.g., PCP, CPM) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly/bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll for employees across multiple companies and provinces, some unionized
  • Manage and ensure compliance with provincial payroll laws, taxes, benefits, and deductions
  • Utilize Workday for payroll processing, ensuring accurate input of employee data, timekeeping, and compensation adjustments
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records in Workday
  • Reconcile payroll discrepancies, including tax filings and benefits-related issues
  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions to the appropriate authorities
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management
  • Assist with the preparation and auditing of year-end reports and T4/T4A slips
  • Stay up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices across all provinces
