  • Ability to setup and operate hemodialysis machines
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Supports Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities
  • Capable of performing vascular access evaluation and cannulation
  • Authorized to administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
  • Skilled in monitoring patient response to dialysis therapy and vital signs
  • Ability to calculate and enter dialysis machine programming (e.g., UF goal, treatment time, Sodium modeling, UF modeling)
  • Proficient in accurate and timely documentation on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and progress notes

Responsibilities

  • Drive FMS culture through values and customer service standards, providing outstanding service to all customers
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships through timely communication; respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues
  • Assist in patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process/access
  • Welcome patients, inquire about well-being, and report complaints or observations to nurse supervisor
  • Evaluate vascular access for patency pre-treatment and report unusual findings
  • Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight; report unusual findings
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and report difficulties or unusual findings
  • Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
  • Initiate dialysis treatment per prescribed orders (blood flow QB, dialysate flow QD)
  • Evaluate intradialytic problems and intervene as prescribed or directed
  • Monitor patients’ response to dialysis and report unusual findings
  • Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and perform discontinuation procedures
  • Discontinue dialysis per established procedures
  • Evaluate patient prior to venous access termination (standing/sitting BP)
  • Obtain hemostasis and apply dressings; evaluate patient prior to discharge and report findings
  • Perform and record pre- and post-dialysis evaluations, weight, and vital signs with initial identification
  • Calculate and enter patient-specific dialysis programming for UF goal, treatment time, Na modeling, and UF modeling
  • Ensure safety alarms (e.g., Narrow Venous Limits 160) are enabled
  • Record vital signs and treatment parameters accurately on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet
  • Document patient treatment information completely, including progress notes if applicable
  • Report significant information or patient condition changes to nurse supervisor
  • Observe patient and conduct machine safety checks
