Requirements

Must be able to float between Maui Lani and Maui Kahana as needed
Functions as part of the hemodialysis health care team under direct supervision of a licensed nurse
Adheres to FMCNA policies, procedures, training, and regulatory requirements (corporation, state, federal)
Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values, customer service philosophy, Compliance Program, Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), and CQI activities

Responsibilities

Drive FMS culture through values and customer service standards; provide outstanding customer service to external and internal customers
Develop and maintain effective relationships through timely communication; respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues
Assist in patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process/access
Welcome patients, inquire about wellbeing, report complaints/observations to nurse supervisor
Evaluate vascular access for patency pre-treatment, report unusual findings to nurse supervisor
Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight; report unusual findings to nurse supervisor
Perform vascular access cannulation; report difficulties/unusual findings to nurse supervisor
Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
Initiate dialysis treatment per prescribed orders (QB, QD)
Evaluate intradialytic problems and intervene as prescribed or directed
Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy; report unusual findings to nurse supervisor
Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion; perform functions for treatment discontinuation and document
Discontinue dialysis treatment per procedures
Evaluate patient prior to venous access termination (standing/sitting BP)
Obtain hemostasis and apply dressings; evaluate patient prior to discharge and report unusual findings
Perform and record pre- and post-dialysis evaluations, weight, vital signs with initial identification
Calculate and enter patient-specific dialysis machine programming (UF goal, treatment time, Na modeling, UF modeling)
Ensure safety alarms enabled (e.g., Narrow Venous Limits 160)
Record accurate/timely vital signs and treatment parameters on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet with initial identification
Document patient treatment information (Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, progress notes if applicable)
Report significant information/changes in patient condition to nurse supervisor
Observe patient and conduct machine-related duties (incomplete in description)
Setup and operate hemodialysis machines
Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment
