Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, and completion of a formal Patient Care Technician program is required. They must also demonstrate a minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in dialysis or a related healthcare field. Strong observation skills and the ability to follow established protocols are essential, along with proficiency in basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Technician will provide direct patient care during dialysis treatments, including assisting with vascular access, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications as directed. They will also educate patients and their families regarding their treatment plan, maintain a clean and safe environment, and accurately document all treatment parameters and observations on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet. Furthermore, they will be responsible for evaluating patient response to therapy, identifying and addressing intradialytic problems, and supporting the overall dialysis health care team.
