Requirements

Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C) - International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) within 2 years
EMT - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) active license in the state of practice upon hire
EMT - South Dakota Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners (SDBMOE) upon hire
EMT - North Dakota Health and Human Services within 90 days
Driver's License upon hire
3 years of field experience in ALS ambulance, previous teaching experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in all EMS skills and familiarity with various EMS training techniques
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Bachelor's degree (preferred)

Responsibilities

Provides emergency medical services under the direction and supervision of the Emergency Department Physician and management
Collects patient health data from patients, referring healthcare providers, and patient charts
Analyzes collected data to assist in determining diagnoses and area of problem focus
Identifies expected outcomes and goals individualized to the patient and develops a plan of care prescribing interventions during transport
Implements interventions identified in the plan of care
Evaluates patient's progress toward outcomes, calls medical director for orders, or utilizes protocols
Evaluates own practice against professional standards, statutes, and regulations; completes peer evaluations when requested
Acquires and maintains current knowledge in practice, procedures, and care
Collaborates with patient, significant others, and healthcare providers for appropriate patient care
Utilizes research findings in practice if appropriate
Considers safety, effectiveness, and cost factors in planning and delivering patient care for responsible, ethical, and safe care
