Registered Nurse (RN) license
No prior RN dialysis experience required (entry-level CAP 1 position)
Ability to complete 12 weeks of paid structured training with Preceptor and Nurse Educator
Required to complete CAP requirements to advance
Physical ability for direct patient care: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending over
Compliance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plan as indicated, notify Team Leader/Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Physician as needed
Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family’s basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family
Direct and provide (in collaboration with direct and ancillary staff) all aspects of daily safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithm(s); document medical justification and effectiveness
Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
Serve as a resource for health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned
Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures; reschedule missed or insufficient collections
Identify expected outcomes; document and update nursing assessment and plan of care through collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team
Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations
Delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians)
Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
