Registered Nurse (RN) license
Entry-level designation into Clinical Advancement Program (CAP); no dialysis experience necessary (comprehensive training provided)
Ability to perform physical demands: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending, moving machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. (with assistance), lifting chemical/water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
Completion of CAP requirements to advance
Compliance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plan as indicated, and notify Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician as needed
Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family’s basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family
Direct and provide, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of daily safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithm(s); document medical justification and effectiveness
Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
Serve as a resource for health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned
Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures; reschedule missed or insufficient collections
Identify expected outcomes, document, and update nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team
Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations
Perform all essential functions under direction of Supervisor and with guidance from Clinical Educator/Preceptor or in collaboration with other RNs
Delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians)
Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
