Registered Nurse (RN) license
No prior RN dialysis experience required
Entry-level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP RN 1)
Ability to complete requirements to advance to the next CAP level within 24 months from date of hire
Perform duties under direction of Clinical Manager and guidance from Educator, Preceptor, or higher CAP RN for first 6 months

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients and document in the patient medical record
Adjust or modify the treatment plan as indicated and notify Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, or Physician as needed
Recognize aspects and implications of patient status that vary from normal and report to or collaborate with appropriate health team members
Assess daily assigned patient care needs and collaborate with direct and ancillary patient care staff
Direct and provide, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective chronic hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
Administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and document appropriate medical justification and effectiveness
Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are performed and reschedule missed or insufficient laboratory collections
Ensure physician orders for assigned patients are entered and acknowledged in the Medical Record
Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
Delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff (e.g., LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians) and monitor for appropriate techniques and adherence to FKC policy and procedures
Promote infection control, equipment, and environmental safety
Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family's basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family
Identify expected outcomes, document, and update the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
Make referrals to Social Worker and Registered Dietitian as appropriate for individual patient education and counseling
Check availability of adequate emergency equipment and supplies as assigned
Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations
Perform all duties in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state, and federal regulations
