Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • No previous dialysis experience needed (extensive paid training provided)
  • Ability to work full-time, 10-12 hour rotating shifts, 4 days/week, including every other Saturday (clinic hours: M/W/F 4:30am-9:30pm, Tue/Thu/Sat 4:30am-5pm)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities as a member of the nephrology health care team to enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations
  • Coordinate patient care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of hemodialysis patients, including delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff
  • Perform ongoing analysis of patient data with each patient visit and document in the patient medical record
  • Adjust or modify the treatment plan as indicated and notify supervisor as needed
  • Provide initial and ongoing education to patient and family
  • Administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and document appropriate medical justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are performed
  • Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team on the patient care plan
  • Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
  • Complete CAP requirements to either maintain or advance within the program
  • Make referrals to Social Worker and Registered Dietitian as appropriate
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state, and federal regulations
