Registered Nurse (RN) license
Entry-level designation into Clinical Advancement Program (CAP 1); no dialysis-specific experience required
Ability to work full-time, 10-12 hour shifts (MWF 4a-8p, TTHS 4a-3:30p), every other Saturday required, Sundays off, no on-call
Physical ability to perform direct patient care: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending, moving equipment up to 200 lbs. (with assistance), lifting solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
Ability to work in a health care facility environment with moderate noise, air temperature control, and potential exposure to infectious/contagious diseases
Completion of CAP requirements to advance

Responsibilities

Perform all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with other RNs
Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plan as indicated, and notify Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician as needed
Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family’s basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family
Direct and provide, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of daily safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithm(s), and document medical justification and effectiveness
Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
Serve as a resource for health care team, participate in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned
Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures; reschedule missed or insufficient collections
Identify expected outcomes, document and update nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations
Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
