Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license
  • Ability to function as part of the hemodialysis health care team under direct supervision of a registered nurse
  • Adherence to FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Knowledge of safe and effective dialysis therapy
  • Skills in customer service, effective communication, and relationship building
  • Ability to report and document incidents, patient conditions, and equipment problems
  • Capability to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for assigned patients, including all technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed
  • Administer and monitor dialysis treatments in accordance with the treatment plan or supervisor directions
  • Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters on flow sheets and other patient record information
  • Report significant information, changes in patient condition, or equipment problems to the supervisor
  • Assist in developing and following teaching plans to educate patients and families on end-stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications
  • Assist with all emergency situations
  • Drive FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards, ensuring outstanding service to all customers
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships through timely communication and follow-up on issues
  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care
  • Promote and assist in maintaining a safe and clean work environment
