Requirements

  • Fully qualified optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) for the relevant professional role type
  • GOC registered performer with your NHS area team or health board
  • MECs or WECs accredited (or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining, funded and supported by Asda)
  • On track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD
  • Evidence of Right to Work in the UK
  • Evidence of being on the NHS performer list for the relevant nation
  • 2 clinical references (required during compliance process)
  • For Wales: evidence of WECS accreditation & WGOS module accreditation
  • Able to use clinical skills and passion to deliver memorable customer experiences
  • Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping departmental culture

Responsibilities

  • Complete eye examinations, contact lens, and extended service examinations
  • Work alongside Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues with training, coaching, and maintaining departmental standards
  • Deliver high quality patient care and service, prioritizing customer health and wellbeing
  • Contribute to delivering a wide range of NHS extended services for treatment and monitoring of eye conditions
  • Participate in CPD programme and complete further accreditations (with protected time and funding provided)
  • Optional: Supervise students as a GOC registered professional
  • Follow specified rota (e.g., Week 1: Saturday 09:00-17:30, Monday 09:00-17:30, Friday 09:00-18:30; Week 2: Saturday 09:00-17:30, Monday 09:00-17:30, Thursday 09:00-17:30)
