Requirements

  • Fully qualified optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) for the relevant professional role type
  • GOC registered performer with your NHS area team or health board
  • MECs or WECs accredited (or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining, funded and supported by Asda)
  • On track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD
  • Evidence of Right to Work in the UK
  • Evidence of being on the NHS performer list for the nation you wish to work in
  • 2 clinical references
  • For Wales: evidence of WECS accreditation & WGOS module accreditation
  • Able to use clinical skills and passion to deliver a memorable customer experience
  • Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping the department culture

Responsibilities

  • Completing eye examinations, contact lens, and extended service examinations
  • Working alongside the Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues with training, coaching, and maintaining departmental standards
  • Delivering a wide range of care for the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions under NHS extended service contracts
  • Participating in CPD and further accreditations (with protected time and funding provided by Asda)
  • Optional: Supervising students as a GOC registered professional
  • Contributing to excellent service levels and fostering positive relationships within the team and community
  • Working shifts: 40 hours per week on a rota including Saturdays, typically 09:00-17:30 (specific days outlined in weeks 1 and 2)
