Requirements

Candidates must possess a current and valid California license as an Occupational Therapist, be registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association, and have a minimum of two years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in home health, though this is not strictly required. They must also hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for evaluating patient’s functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, and self-care ability, as well as assessing the home environment for hazards. They will develop and implement a treatment plan, communicate with referring physicians and other healthcare professionals, teach new skills to patients, maintain clinical records, participate in case conferences, instruct patient’s families and caregivers, and contribute to discharge planning.
