Requirements

  • Competency in RO system, setting-up, operating the dialysis machine
  • Ability to perform venipuncture AVF, AVG to initiate dialysis
  • Knowledge of kidney disease, treatment modalities, and treatment plans for patient education
  • Ability to assess patient’s condition, symptoms, body weight pre, during, and post dialysis
  • Proficiency in documenting patient condition, treatment, progression, laboratory results, and hemodialysis sheets
  • Experience in mentoring and on-the-job training for new renal nurses
  • Knowledge of professional nursing standards, patient safety, and quality improvement (CQI) projects
  • Ability to monitor dialysis machine, RO system, electrolyte values, bacteria/endotoxin levels, and daily checklists
  • Skills in incident reporting, customer feedback recording, and unit indicator monitoring within 24 hours
  • Capability to ensure PM and calibration of medical equipment, manage staffing, and prioritize tasks

Responsibilities

  • Provide standard nursing care for dialysis patients pre, during, and post treatment, including for tertiary and critical care levels
  • Assess patient’s condition and symptoms effectively and safely throughout treatment
  • Initiate and participate in unit patient/staff education activities (e.g., clinical conferences, grand rounds, patient groups)
  • Make recommendations regarding standards of patient care and deliver nursing care with attending physician
  • Document patient condition, treatment, progression, and review/evaluate/report laboratory results
  • Mentor new renal nurses and perform on-the-job training
  • Educate and evaluate patient and family knowledge of kidney disease, treatment modalities, and plans
  • Ensure patient safety post-treatment before discharge and during transfers
  • Review medication and blood values with patients monthly
  • Record incidents or customer feedback into system within 24 hours
  • Monitor unit indicators, dialysis machine/RO system checklists, dialysate electrolytes (lot changes), and monthly bacteria/endotoxin levels
  • Document nursing records completely per professional standards
  • Assure medical equipment PM and calibration per schedule
  • Act as role model, advise staff, and lead quality/safety activities and CQI projects
  • Evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing care in the unit
  • Serve as resource for team consultation on clinical/critical patients
  • Assign roles/responsibilities to team members and maintain adequate staffing per patient schedule
  • Review completeness of medication orders and nursing documents
  • Manage daily incidents/customer feedback and report to Head Nurse
  • Prioritize tasks, manage time, and prepare environment/monitor medical supplies/stock/medications
