Arbitrator - Contract (Remote)

Position Overview

The Arbitrator is a 1099 contract position responsible for independent dispute resolution between providers, facilities, or providers of air ambulance services, out-of-network services, and excessive emergency room charges. Arbitrators make payment determinations based on the rules enacted under the No Surprises Act (NSA). This is a paper review process with no hearing component.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing materials related to disputes and any potential data relevant to the issues.
  • Providing written decisions based on baseball arbitration processes.
  • Applying laws, procedures, and industry knowledge to settle disputes.
  • Completing Dane Street training for the program and review process.
  • Submitting reporting on Dane Street’s portal and billing for completed reviews.
  • Performing other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education/Credentials:
    • Law degree, business degree, or extensive coding experience is required.
    • Solid knowledge of procedures, policies, and law.
  • Experience:
    • Business experience in a healthcare and/or insurance setting is preferred.
    • Prior administrative law experience, dispute resolution, or hearing officer experience is helpful.
    • Preference for arbitrators with specific training and healthcare/insurance review experience.
  • Skills/Competencies:
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Sound organizational skills.
    • Strong understanding of industry practices.
    • Ability to remain neutral when analyzing materials.
    • Ability to write concise decisions.
    • Critical thinking and efficient time management skills.
    • Computer literacy and typing skills.
  • Work From Home Technical Requirements:
    • Must supply and support their own internet services.
    • Maintaining an uninterrupted internet connection is required.
