Requirements

Functions as Registered Nurse Applicant under direction/supervision of Staff Registered Nurse
Obtain nursing license and registration within state-specific timeframe or 90 days from hire, whichever sooner
Adhere to FMS policies, procedures, training, FMCNA mission, vision, values, customer service philosophy
Support Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), CQI activities, patient satisfaction, process improvements
Comply with FMCNA Compliance Program, patient care, and administrative policies

Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care Technicians in safe, effective chronic hemodialysis therapy delivery per policies, regulations
Delegate tasks to direct patient care staff (LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians, Dialysis Assistants)
Assess daily patient care needs and develop appropriate assignments
Monitor patient care staff for techniques, policy/procedure adherence
Participate in staff training, orientation, required meetings
Ensure patient/family education on ESRD, renal disease, vascular access, dialysis therapy, health conditions
Provide/record education on diet/fluid/medication compliance, adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM), transplant/modality awareness, catheter reduction, lab values
Deliver safe/effective dialysis care, implement treatment prescriptions (Na modeling, Ultrafiltration)
Assess patient response to therapy, adjust/modify plans, communicate issues to Team Leader/physician
Identify/communicate patient issues to Team Leader/physician
Initiate/conduct Initial/Annual Nursing Assessments, ongoing evaluations/documentation per policies
Participate in pre-evaluation, initiation, monitoring, termination, access homeostasis, post-evaluation of hemodialysis
Intervene for patient adequacy changes, troubleshoot access flow issues (OLC/AMP)
Provide/supervise/monitor hemodialysis access care per procedures
Implement/administer/monitor/document interdialytic transfusions, notify of adverse reactions
