Position Overview
Delta Solutions and Strategies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate to join a high-performance team supporting US Space Command (USSPACECOM) J6 as a Network Operations Engineer. This role involves the purchase, configuration, fielding, disposal, accounting, and accreditation of networked IT systems and equipment across all classification levels up to SAP/SAR. Responsibilities include IT portfolio life cycle management, configuration management, mission requirements analysis and development, providing network and systems engineering expertise, and supporting Hardware, Operating Systems, and Peripherals (HOSP) maintenance. Anticipated award is mid-June, with a start date in July/August.
Responsibilities
- Ensure successful installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of all classified and unclassified networks and system management tools.
- Establish network architecture, networking, and patch capabilities while overseeing the maintenance of security, backup, and redundancy strategies in accordance with government and accreditation standards.
- Contribute to planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification, and awareness activities for system and networking operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced application, hardware, and network anomalies to restore systems (servers, desktops, laptops, peripherals, scanners, plotters, printers) to normal operation quickly.
- Interface and coordinate with external agencies on WAN and other long-haul communications link issues.
- Install, configure, and remove HOSP equipment, including performing Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) for HQ USSPACECOM.
- Provide recommendations on the level of maintenance for HOSP systems while maintaining HOSP warranty information.
- Coordinate with HQ USSPACECOM stakeholders and applicable vendors to facilitate necessary vendor maintenance contracts.
Requirements
- A BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution.
- 4+ years of relevant technical experience related to maintaining security, backup, and redundancy strategies in accordance with government and accreditation standards.
- Experience maintaining operating systems such as Solaris, Linux, Windows operating systems (OS) and servers, VMware (various versions), as well as several versions of Mac operating systems.
- Experience configuring and installing fiber and ethernet networks, and conducting vulnerability assessments and security fortification.
- Experience generating relevant documentation such as PMI reports, system schematics, interface and connectivity diagrams, procedures, technical references, and CR/TS documentation.
- Proficiency in Core and Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Tasks (KSATs) defined in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework for Work Role 441 Intermediate.
Required Certifications
- CompTIA Sec+
- One of the following: SecurityX / CASP+, CCISO, CCSP, CISM, CISSO, CISSP, or GSLC
Clearance
- TS/SCI and SAP clearance required.
