Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in EE, CS, or a related field, with over 6 years of experience in building large-scale, distributed web platforms/APIs, taking end-to-end product responsibility across multiple domains. Required technical skills include Java server-side development, proficiency with the Spring framework, object-oriented design, design patterns, RESTful services, Agile development methodologies, multi-threading development, and experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, Hadoop, Hive, and HDFS. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong decision-making, ownership, and communication skills, thrives on ambiguity, is a self-starter with a growth mindset, and enjoys mentoring others.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will contribute to the Compliance Engineering Development team, ensuring the eBay marketplace aligns with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include crafting API designs, driving integration between data layers and customer-facing applications, designing and running A/B tests for new functionality, developing complex, multi-tier distributed software applications, and designing layered applications covering UI, business functionality, and database access. The role involves collaborating with other developers and quality engineers to create innovative solutions, estimating engineering efforts, planning implementations, rolling out system changes, and participating in the continuous improvement of payment products. The engineer will also participate in requirement/design meetings and contribute to technology direction that yields measurable business improvements.
