Requirements

  • Associate's or equivalent from a 2-year college, technical school, or hospital-based Radiologic Technology Program
  • Radiography (R) certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Thorough knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices, procedures, physiology, and human anatomy
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Competence with IV injections for administration of IV contrast media
  • Familiarity with IV Access Systems/Restrictions and ability to monitor injection of contrast material and patient condition

Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians
  • Perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and procedures
  • Prepare patients and adjust equipment for performing MRI; position and instruct patients regarding procedures
  • Perform MRI procedures accurately and efficiently according to established standards
  • Coordinate daily schedules for efficiency and assess exam completion
  • Assist with staff/student on-the-job training, orientation, and preparing for/conducting MRI classes
  • Assist with collection and maintenance of records for Radiology Department, Quality Assurance, Joint Commission, OSHA, or legal requirements
  • Maintain all records/reports required for the MRI area (e.g., patient records, volume records, equipment records)
  • Provide detailed reports to management as requested
  • Consult with radiologist, physicians, and other patient-care personnel on specific exam details and specialized protocols
  • Research lab data results
