Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related scientific field, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory setting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, as is the ability to interpret and apply microbiological testing methods. Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory quality control principles is essential.
The Microbiologist will prepare microbiological media as needed, monitor tubes and plates, and oversee the discarding procedure. They will perform periodic microbiological tests according to a schedule, conduct bacterial endotoxin tests, bioburden analyses for raw materials and in-process samples, and bacterial challenge tests. Additionally, the Microbiologist will coordinate with the technical department regarding equipment issues, perform sterility tests, analyze water samples for bacterial endotoxin and bioburden, and maintain stock records of media and reagents. They will also analyze samples of water systems after maintenance, perform gram staining and colony identification, analyze stability samples and finished products, and perform validation activities, while meticulously recording all microbiological testing data and communicating any abnormalities to supervisors or the Microbiology Head.
